Epoxy Resin Calculator

Work out exactly how much epoxy to mix before you pour, so you don't run short mid-pour or waste $40 of resin.

How the math works

Volume = length × width × depth (rectangles) or π × r² × depth (rounds). One cubic inch is 16.39 ml and one US fl oz is 29.57 ml. Most epoxies weigh about 1.1 g/cm³, which matters if your kit specifies a ratio by weight, not volume — check the label: a 2:1 by volume resin is often roughly 100:45 by weight.

4" coaster¼" deep~2 fl oz
River table48×6×1"~1.7 gal
Charcuterie board coat18×10×⅛"~14 fl oz

Why add a waste buffer?

Resin clings to cups, stir sticks and the mold walls, and wood soaks some up (seal coat first). 10% is fine for molds; 15–20% for live-edge wood.

Deep pour vs. tabletop epoxy

Tabletop/coating epoxy is usually limited to ⅛–¼" per layer; it gets hot and can crack or yellow if poured thicker. Deep-pour resins allow 1–2"+ per pour but cure over 24–72 hours. Always follow your manufacturer's maximum pour depth.
